Aviation COVID-19 Safe Guide now available for PIDC Members
The Australia Border Force under the Pacific Engagement and Capacity Building Programme recently released an Aviation COVID-19 Safe Guide (the Guide) as a reference document for PIDC Members. The Guide provides guidance to border agencies on physical layouts and safety recommendations on COVID-19 safe protocols at the border. It provides guidance on:
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE);
- Training and the role of a COVID-Safe Marshalls;
- Signage and posters;
- Cleaning and sanitization;
- COVID Safe Zones at an international airport;
- Arriving and Departing Passengers; and
- Examples of processes, layouts, PPE distribution and ongoing support links.
The Aviation COVID-19 Safe Guide does not supersede any Pacific nation’s COVID-19 health plans or protocols, their domestic laws or international obligations, and may not adequately address the specific requirements of individual nations. It should only be used as a guide or reference document. Members may consider the information and guidance within the Guide when developing measures to support existing protocols when establishing a COVID-safe environment at their respective borders.
The release of this Guide came at an opportune time, as PIDC Members have begun exploring the re-opening of their international borders and the creation of travel bubbles with countries like New Zealand. The full Aviation COVID-19 Safe Guide can be accessed by Members in the members area of the PIDC website.
